About

Questival is a celebration of fantasy fiction, comic books and roleplaying- games, brought to life by three independent businesses based on the Wirral Peninsula.

This unique event will create a space where visitors can explore the worlds of stories through reading, gaming, and shared experiences, showcasing authors, artists, publishers, retailers, and organisations for a day of imagination and engagement.

Taking place in the storybook village of Port Sunlight on the Wirral, Questival will be an activity-focused day for all ages. Visitors will be empowered to explore the magic of new worlds through books, comics, and games; and attending vendors will be encouraged to engage with those visitors who might be lapsed or infrequent readers and have never rolled a dice.

Abby

Books, authors + panels

Founder of Paper and Word, the UK's only exclusively fantasy independent bookshop. Abby is an award winning business owner featured by The Times, BBC, Stylist and more. Paper and Word sees visitors from all over the UK, including over 500 members across its subscriptions and 50k followers over social channels.

CATHY

Comics, illustrators + workshops

Creator of Kraken Comics, a lifelong comic enthusiast whose passion began with her first Superman comic in 1996. With a background in design and education, Cathy created a space to celebrate comics, support local illustrators, and champion independent creators. Winner of the Penguin Children's Bookshop Grant 2026.

Chris & Ross

RPG's, games + sessions

Co-founders of Bulwark Games, Ross and Chris have a shared love of storytelling, narrative, and theme. Bulwark provides a safe space for gamers of all stripes, and boasts one of the broadest selection of roleplaying games in the north west. They also host Wirral War-con, which sees up to a 1k attendees per event!
